Are you looking for a unique piece of artwork for your home or a meangful gift for someone special? This beautiful print will light up your home and also holds deeper layers of history and lore? Its is part of my 2019 Home collection which was a creative response to my interviews with Irish emigrants. The unique story comes with the print and gives an extra special depth of meaning. It makes a unique, pretty and a wonderful gift for everyone, a perfect gift for any child or for yourself.
The following unique story comes printed as part of the product:
Emigrant: Nora Mitchell
Nora Mitchell with a maiden name Purcell was born in Co Laois and came England 64 years ago at the age of 24. She saw an ad in the Paper in Ireland for a maid in Lenam Palace, Oxfordshire. She proudly informed me that president Churchill was born in this palace. She worked in the Palace for many happy years before moving into London eventually to marry and have children. Now at 88 Nora’s husband has passed on and children have grown up with families of their own and she now lives alone in East Finchley. She reminisced about the friendliness, peacefulness and the smell of the air in Ireland but has no regrets about moving to London. Although she lives alone in a big city she finds her neighbours and the general public to be very kind and helpful. She still enjoys the buzz of living in a big city and likes living close to public transport. Answering my question on what home is. Nora feels “Home is good memories, I came from a family of 10 kids, we would cross the bog three miles to get to school. I would like to go back and be buried in the same tiny little graveyard in Garryduff, where I played with rabbits when I was 5 years old.”
