The Home collection 2019
This series launched as an installation piece the 2019 Cavan Arts Festival and later that year as a series of prints for Culture night. Each piece in the Home series is based on an interview with an Irish Emigrant carried out in The London Irish Centre in July 2018.
What does the word home mean to an Irish person living abroad? These people spoke about arriving in London , adjusting to life in a new land, memories of home and what the word home really means to them. each artwork represents an individual and their unique story. This series of six prints is the starting point for a project that i feel will grow naturally over time as i meet more emigrants and visit other countries.
All of the artworks from this collection are available to purchase as limited edition textile and paper prints over on my webshop. Click on each picture below to view the hand embroidered textile versions, to read the folklore story behind each piece & to purchase.
